Alba laughed for a moment or two, bringing a hand to her chest. “Christ, you scared me half to death, thought you were Filch,” She said, resuming her stirring before pouring the batter into the pan. It spread out nice and evenly as she took out another spatula and scraped the remainder of the batter onto it. “Oh, well neither are you,” Alba quipped, looking toward the younger girl. She had to admit that the stranger seemed quite feisty for someone so young, and so intent on following the rules. She remembered being similar, but much less so on following the rules. In fact she often broke them, as she did tonight.
“Tell you what, I won’t tell Filch your here if you don’t tell him I’m here.” She smiles a bit.“ Not to mention you have lick the other spatula if you like,” Offering the rubber utensil over to the girl she looked down at the pan of brownies, popping it into the oven and shutting it quietly.
“If we wake the rest of the ‘puffs we’ll never get to have a piece.”
Had it not been for the fact that she would also get into the trouble, the young witch wouldn’t have hesitated when it came to turning the other student in. Troublemakers had to be punished. She, however, was not out of bed without a reason. She had studied far too late, dozed off a bit and then awoke in the middle of the night. Surely a teacher would understand.
But it was that small fear that they
would not that kept her from speaking up.
“You may have a point–
But I must demand that as soon as
you are finished, you will head straight
to bed with detours. I will do the same.”
And then she moved closer, hand
outstretched for the spoon; even she
could not deny the childlike behaviour
that came from her at the sight of
the delicious treat. “Thank you.”
