“Last minute? There’s only three books, and two of them have been checked out since the beginning of the year. That’s not exactly my fault. I attempted it without the book, but I’m god awful at Charms.” She scowled. “Fine.”

image

She paused, taking a moment before she spoke. If she were in the girl’s position, she would be thinking the same– of course, Hermione would never be in that position since she was quick when it came to checking out books and whatnot. But if she was in that position and without a book and having it be so close to the due date.. well, she would nearly go insane. Leaning forward, she looked the other in the eye. “–if you want, I suppose we could share. But that’s only if we’d get along.”

Alba saluted the girl, grinning,” Aye Aye Cap’n.” She said mockingly, bringing all the dirty dishes to the sink. Tying her arm back she looked toward the younger student, so forthright and bossy for someone so young. She didn’t ever quite remember mimicking such behavior at that age. “Oh, I don’t have long to go anyway. I mean, the Hufflepuff commons is right by the kitchens, it’s you who should be worry about detours. What are you —-?” Alba squinted to read the emblem on her cloak.

“A Gryffindor is it?” She asked lightly, smiling a bit. “Gryffindor dormitories are quite a ways from here . .  perhaps I could walk you once the brownies are finished? Then if we’re caught you could blame the whole excursion on me.”

image

“You’re welcome,” She said, picking up the other spatula and licking it herself. There was something inherently muggle about the girl, the way she all too quickly accepted Alba’s method of cooking and never once questioned why she wasn’t using magic for the job.

“Say, what’s your name anyway?”

The smaller witch nodded her head at the question; quite confident in her house and happily content with the sorting hat’s decision. “Yes, I am in Gryffindor. First, I thought to be in Ravenclaw, but deep down, I know that I would have enjoyed to be in Gryffindor. No offense, but it does seem like the best house to me.”

image

After she had finished licking the spoon, she moved over to the sink and set it aside for it to be washed, completely overlooking the fact that the girl turned to the muggle way of doing things. Perhaps it’s because she was completely used to it, having grown up with muggle parents. “Right, I completely forgot. I’m Hermione Granger. And you are?”

❝ i think everybody knows you.
         you’re the smartest witch in
         our year —- - it’s amazing.

rapunzel lets a small sigh escape her lips, slowly placing the
feathered-quill on top of the parchment, careful as to not let
the ink scatter along its material. sometimes, the blonde ev-
en wondered if the great hermione granger would ever talk
or notice her. apparently, this was the perfect time.

                            ❝ i didn’t mind to be sorted
                               into anything except slyth-
                               erin. it seems scary there.

         The compliments made the
          witch smile from nearly ear
          to ear. Despite what others
          seemed to have forgotten,
she was merely a girl underneath
          all of the smarts.

After finishing fill in the answer,
she turned to the girl once more
with eyes lighting up - quite thrilled
to have someone speak to her
kindly - she was far too used to
                                            people talking behind her back.

“I agree. I don’t have it out for Slytherins,
but they don’t seem to like me very much.”

She certainly liked to talk a lot. It was something he still hadn’t truly gotten used to, even if they’d been friends for over a year now. And people said he had no filter. Honestly.

“Look, Hermione, it’s Hogwarts. Something’s gonna happen, we both know it. And besides, we’ll make up the points when we beat Slytherin at Quidditch next week. It’ll be fine! Plus ‘m pretty sure he can’t take away fifty points for failing a quiz when you only lost five for going after a troll.”

The probability of her winning an argument against Ronald Weasley was slim to none, mainly because both were equally stubborn, no matter the topic. Still, perhaps he had a point regarding Snape’s abilities to knock off such a high amount of points for failing a test - not that she would admit to that out loud.

But, there was something that she agreed on - reluctantly, of course. If she had learned anything from last year, it was most likely true that there would be something happening this year. Though she wasn’t positive as to what, the lingering ‘what if’ did not seem to leave her.

However, even with this knowledge, they still needed to do what they came here for and that was to learn. No matter how many dark wizards and witches, their education was still quite important. With her notes, she slid them toward the redhead, quite content with herself as she read them over. “You are not aloud to copy it word for word, Ronald. This is merely an aid.”

”I do actually! Hold on just one second,” Zhala tells the stranger, rummaging around in her purse for a couple coins and handing it to the brunette with a smile. “There you go!”

It was not every day that she ran into someone whom did not seem overly annoyed by people– that kind of welcoming personality was not common in today’s world and if it was, they did not show it to her. She graciously took the coins from the girl and then handed them over to the woman behind the counter with a smile. Then, she turned to the one that had helped her out during her time of need.

“I hate to be a bother, but are you busy? You see, I haven’t met very many.. nice individuals and sitting by one’s self might be just a tad too lonely.”

coldbloodedhxart:

“They’re all checked out. And it might interest you to know that I’m not demanding that you give it to me. I’m simply waiting until you are finished with it.”

image

"That’s not exactly my problem, is it? You shouldn’t have waited until the last minute to check one out.” The brunette frowned slightly at the girl. “I hadn’t planned on handing it in until I was absolutely sure I was finished with it. Which more than likely would not be until after the due date.”

“You’re in Midgar at the moment a few blocks away from my shop” she would cross her arms in a slightly defensive motion “Where was it you were headed, it shouldn’t be too hard to find the right path for you”. She wasn’t keen about talking to strangers but she certainly looked lost.

“Midgar?” she repeated, looking at the girl. Perhaps she had taken a wrong turn? “That’s not in Britain, is it?” She frowned a bit, brows following suit to enunciate how confused she was at that moment. “I suppose I wasn’t exactly heading anywhere in particular,” she replied to the question, eyes roaming around their current whereabouts. “I do apologize if I’m being a bother though.”

“It’s not nearly as easy as you say.
Are you not afraid of her? You may
be in Slytherin, but that does not mean
she’ll go easy on you. Have you had an
encounter with that dreadful quill of hers?”

The brunette took the girl’s hand and gently shook it. ❝ You too, Hermione. My name’s Dorothy Gale. ❞ The other introduces herself, rather excited that she’s made a new friend—— She’s been getting herself into some trouble lately, wandering off, loosing Toto , causing her to be in a rather gloomy mood. But now, she’s feeling much happier.

“I can’t help but notice something. Are you feeling alright?” The smaller female asked, retracting her hand once the shake was finished. She knew about the story – the wizard of oz – and was quite familiar with what happened. “Not to sound overbearing since we’ve just met, but I am curious to know if things are going alright for you.”
