Alba laughed for a moment or two, bringing a hand to her chest. “Christ, you scared me half to death, thought you were Filch,” She said, resuming her stirring before pouring the batter into the pan. It spread out nice and evenly as she took out another spatula and scraped the remainder of the batter onto it. “Oh, well neither are you,” Alba quipped, looking toward the younger girl. She had to admit that the stranger seemed quite feisty for someone so young, and so intent on following the rules. She remembered being similar, but much less so on following the rules. In fact she often broke them, as she did tonight.

“Tell you what, I won’t tell Filch your here if you don’t tell him I’m here.” She smiles a bit.“ Not to mention you have lick the other spatula if you like,” Offering the rubber utensil over to the girl she looked down at the pan of brownies, popping it into the oven and shutting it quietly.

“If we wake the rest of the ‘puffs we’ll never get to have a piece.”

Had it not been for the fact that she would also get into the trouble, the young witch wouldn’t have hesitated when it came to turning the other student in. Troublemakers had to be punished. She, however, was not out of bed without a reason. She had studied far too late, dozed off a bit and then awoke in the middle of the night. Surely a teacher would understand.

But it was that small fear that they
would not that kept her from speaking up.

            “You may have a point–
But I must demand that as soon as
you are finished, you will head straight
to bed with detours. I will do the same.”

And then she moved closer, hand
outstretched for the spoon; even she
could not deny the childlike behaviour
that came from her at the sight of
                                              the delicious treat. “Thank you.”

therunninggoddess:

“I am Isis.”

image

Isis had a smile on her face, she quite liked the company of children and by the looks of this one, she was studious. Of course, she may be wrong but she often was right about these things.

            "What might your name be?”

image

"That’s an interesting name,” the witch said, not a hint of sarcasm present. “Sounds like a Princess from the olden days.” She herself had quite a unique name, one that she wasn’t positive the other would be able to pronounce correctly. “I’m Hermione. Hermione Granger.”

xheroineofoz:

❝ Oh! ❞ A bright smile curved over her lips, her mood instantly lifting. ❝ That’s awfully interesting—— What’s your name? ❞

image

She couldn’t help the smile on her face– was it even possible for book characters to be real? Oh, this was just like a dream she once had. She then held out her hand, taking the opportunity to introduce herself. “I’m Hermione Granger. It’s a pleasure.”

“Of course I’ve been to a library before!” He’ll say; with a somewhat tone of amusement in his voice. The idea that someone would not was simply ridiculous to the small creature. “I am going to read it.” He’ll say somewhat defiantly; small hands touching the book’s leather surface. “I just… I want to look at it first.” Unknown to the girl; this was not a mere book to the boy —- it was his family’s golden treasure; the book he had known before his first name.

image

Curious, he was. She furrowed her brows as she put down the novel she had been reading and attempted to get a look at the book that he was so fascinated with. “Alright, now you’ve got me curious. What exactly is the book about?”

thekingofweasels:

He looked at her as if she’d grown a second head - had she seriously just asked him that? Wasn’t she supposed to be the clever one?

”Well, ‘m sort’ve required to, aren’t I? Besides I learn plenty. ‘m just not big on reading the books. Think it’s a waste of time when I learn more from, y’know, fighting trolls and all that.”

image

“I am sure if you really didn’t want to be here, you would find a way. Fake a sickness, or purposely get yourself expelled. It wouldn’t be hard for you to do either of those.”

She was a bit appalled by learning that he did not wish to read books. Even thinking about not enjoying a good book put her on edge. She was certain that nearly half her life was spent reading books and other articles containing intellectual information.

She was about to speak up and defend the very books he practically spat upon, but quieted down when the mention of a troll came into the conversation. Because if it had not been for Harry and Ron, she would have died in that bathroom.

xmagizoologist:

“I’ve never seen a book this big before.”

image

“Have you never been in a library before?” Surely that wasn’t true, everyone has had to have been in several libraries during their lifetime. She flipped the page of her own book, attempting to ignore his wondrous face. Not that she blamed him. It was a rather big book. But it was bothering her, that he was simply staring and not reading it. Then, she was unable to hold back her comments any longer. “If you’re not going to read it, put it away for someone else to.”

therunninggoddess:

She exited an empty room, shutting the door behind her quietly and checking the hallways to see if it was empty. Since it was, the woman roamed out into the halls but the first corner she turned revealed a child.

image

“Oh hello there.” Isis greeted her.

She had been sitting in the empty hallway, book in hand. Unable to find quietness in the Gryffindor common room, she decided to venture out where she knew nobody would be. Except it was rather surprising, she, in fact, was not alone.

                                                       "Hello– who are you?”

xbowties:

He smiled slightly as he saw her perk up. No matter how strange the situation, he couldn’t help but smile when a child was happy.“Umm, no…” he said, scrambling for some excuse as to how he knew about the school, “I’m a muggle but… my sister is a witch.” There, that would be sufficient.

When he offered up an explanation, she felt satisfied enough with it to drop the little bit of suspicion she had of him. “I see. You know, I used to believe I was only a muggle, too. I am not sure how it happened, but while being a witch is nice and all, sometimes I do miss the simplicity.” She paused, giving him a smile. “I do wonder, though.. what house was your sister sorted into?"

xbowties:

“Nothing…” he said, trying to think through how this could be possible… Well, there was that one time his past regeneration had had a strange police man check his arm… He tucked these thoughts away for later, “So,” he cleared his throat, “Hogwarts, huh?”

Her brows raised, ears perking up slightly at the mention of her school. She’d only just learned about it a year and some months ago, but it changed her life– made it all the more interesting. What was more curious was this tall man, whom could not believe what she said her name was. Was this his way of not taking her seriously because she was a muggleborn? She knew the majority of the wizarding community did not look greatly upon those with her blood type. If that was the case, then that was rather rude.

                                              “Yes, Hogwarts.
I don’t suppose you’ve gone there when you were young, did you?”

thekingofweasels:

image

”Yeah, well, who’s got time to study when someone’s trying to kill Harry or half the school every two seconds, hmm? Just coz I’ve still got better priorities than you doesn’t mean ‘m lazy.”

He rolled his eyes at her, resting his head on his bag.

”Potions? Blimey. Well, no way ‘m gonna pass that one, might as well sleep more.”

She closed her eyes and took a couple of deep breaths; don’t let him get to you, Hermione. He’s merely a boy, nothing more. When she opened her eyes, she glared at him– but it was so hard to contain herself; the way he brushed off school like it was a joke, it bothered her more than she’d like to admit.

"Why do you even come to school if you’re not here to learn?“
